Laminar Research hat für seinen X-Plane 12 eine neue öffentliche Betaversion herausgebracht. 12.0.8 bietet u. a. Engine Model Verbesserungen, eine erweiterte Fahrwerksphysik und ein neues Fuel Temperature Model. Außerdem Fehlerbehebungen bei Grafik, ATC und Netzwerkfunktionen etc.

Die Betaversion kann über den X-Plane 12 Installer heruntergeladen werden, wenn das Häkchen bei „Check for new betas als well as updates“ gesetzt ist.
Wer den X-Plane 12 auf Steam erworben hat, geht folgendermaßen vor:
- X-Plane 12 mit der rechten Maustaste in der Steam-Bibliothek anklicken und ” Eigenschaften” wählen.
- „ Betas“ auf der rechten Seite des Popup-Fensters wählen.
- „ public_beta“ aus der Dropdown-Liste wählen.
Aus dem Beta-Prozess aussteigen kann man wieder, indem man unter Betas “Keines” wählt.

12.0.8-beta-1 ATC bug fixes and tweaks:
- XPD-14353: Add dataref to allow plugins to disable autotune. Requires XPLM branch feat_XPD-14353_Disable_autotune
- XPD-13882: Fix flows changing too rapidly
- XPD-14343: Disable dev_assert which can happen if the pilot’s being arsey
- XPD-14143 + XPD-14169: ATC dialog and autotune were resetting COM1 active when COM2 tx had been selected.
